IPL 2018: 56th Match: CSK vs KXIP – Kings XI Punjab Predicted XI

Kings XI Punjab will travel to Chennai Super Kings’ adopted home ground for the 56th match of the IPL 2018.

From the top two position on the points table, Punjab has slipped to the second last place. The credit for their colossal dip goes to the six losses during the previous seven matches.

Consequently, they need to come against the odds to qualify for the playoffs. Firstly, they need to hope Mumbai Indians lose their match against Delhi Daredevils. Secondly, they not only need to beat Chennai Super Kings but also they need to win by a more significant margin.

Punjab should win by a margin of 53 runs and more or they need to chase their target in 13.4 overs to qualify for the playoffs. Thus, it is not going to be a cakewalk for Punjab especially against a side like Chennai Super Kings.

Meanwhile, Chennai had lost their last match against Delhi Daredevils and would like to get back to winning ways before the playoffs.

Here is a look at the Predicted Playing XI of the Kings XI Punjab:

KL Rahul is the lone warrior of the Kings XI Punjab army. The opening batsman hasn’t received any support from the other end.

Chris Gayle

Punjab needs to win this contest by a bigger margin if Mumbai loses their match. Gayle will have to be at the top of his game if the situation arises.

Karun Nair got dropped in the last match. However, the Karnataka batsman should return into the playing to provide solidarity.

It doesn’t make sense to push down Yuvraj Singh in the batting order. The southpaw is not at the top of his game and should be given more time.

Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch had scored a good knock of 46 runs in the last match against Mumbai Indians. However, the Australia batsman has underfired thus far.

David Miller

It is surprising to note David Miller hasn’t received his chances. The Proteas batsman should get drafted into the final XI.

Punjab has a slim chance of making into playoffs.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel hasn’t able to live up to the expectations. The all-rounder will like to come back stronger with both bat and ball.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin had impressed in the first half of the season. However, Punjab skipper is scratching his head in the other half of the season.

Andrew Tye

Andrew Tye is the most impressive Punjab bowler. The Australian fast bowler has bagged 24 wickets which is the most by any bowler in this season.

Mohit Sharma

Mohit Sharma is turning out to be expensive for the Punjab side. However, the fast bowler will like to deliver the goods in the crucial match.

Ankit Rajpoot has impressed with his pace and bounce. But the lanky fast bowler was expensive in the last match.
