One of the most successful fast bowlers from Australia in the past decade, Mitchell Johnson, recently hit back at a critic on Twitter for pulling him down because of a potential IPL contract snub. Meanwhile, the former pacer made his debut against New Zealand in 2005 and subsequently played his last game against the Kiwis in 2015.

In addition to, Johnson also got the privileged to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years.

Moreover, Johnson has played 54 matches from 2013 onwards and bagged 61 wickets at an economy of 8.29. Meanwhile, the speedster had listed in the auction at the base price of Rs 2 crore in last year and got drafted by Kolkata Knight Riders.

However, the 37-year-old couldn’t put up a great show in the last season, as he could only manage to pick a couple of wickets at an economy of 10.28. Though KKR released the fast bowler of his contract, Mitch remained positive and came up with a lighter note on the social media. Also, alongside him, the former IPL champions had let go his countryman, Mitchell Starc as well. Moreover, all the eight franchises have listed the retained and released players’ list ahead of IPL 2019 auctions.

Meanwhile, a supporter questioned him whether he is still looking for an IPL contract. The fan took Twitter and wrote,

“You don’t have a choice, Mitch! Still begging for an IPL spot eh?”

Johnson replied and wrote,

“I retired from cricket earlier this year, so your msg makes no sense,”

However, Johnson is an express bowler whose career has consisted of Himalayan peaks and oceanic troughs. Though he didn’t find much success in his initial years, Johnson would be remembered for his significant 2013/14 Ashes, where he picked 37 wickets across five Tests and helped Australia win the urn.
