The Director of Cricket for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Daredevils has tendered his resignation to step down while citing the personal reasons on Thursday.

While shedding his light on the past ten years with Daredevils, Sekar admitted the fact by saying it was his one of the difficult decisions for him.

“It has been a very difficult decision for me to make, but it was for purely personal reasons,” Sekar explained.

It’s pertinent to note that, Sekar was with the Delhi-based outfit since the inception of the tournament when the first edition of the widely-acclaimed league was played in 2008.

Dua revealed it’s sad to lose the prominent figure in the form of Sekar, who did wonders for the franchise in the first ten editions of the IPL.

“We are naturally very disappointed to not have Sekar in our midst going forward, but as a franchise, we clearly understand his position,” Dua maintained.

Since the inception of the tournament, Sekar has been at the forefront for Daredevils to play an imperative role in the administrative part.

Moreover, Dua believes Sekar’s resignation has left a gaping hole in the management which according to him is a daunting task to fill up at the earliest.

“Sekar was an invaluable asset to the franchise and his departure leaves a vacuum that will be difficult to fill,” Dua asserted.

While giving his best with his involvement with the Daredevils, Sekar has further boosted the staff for giving their best from time-to-time.

Interestingly, in the tenth edition Zaheer Khan-led Daredevils, as the team finished sixth on the points table in league-stage fixtures with six wins in 14 fixtures.

One of the eight teams, Daredevils is owned by GMR Group which has been nursed by former Indian batsman Rahul Dravid, who is concurrently serving as the head coach for India A teams and the Under-19 team as a mentor alongside South African Paddy Upton as a head coach.

Sekar was humbled while adding the unconditional support made it interesting for both the parties.

“It has been an absolute privilege being part of the franchise since its inception in 2008.” Sekar asserted.

“I’m grateful for the support and understanding of the franchise,” Sekar concluded.

In 44 first-class fixtures, Sekar claimed 130 wickets at an average of 27.33.
