Batting first, Pakistan posted 340 runs with a brilliant century from Babar Azam and half-centuries from Mohammad Hafeez and Fakhar Zaman. However, the start was not at all good as Imam-ul-Haq had to retire with a blow on the arm from Mark Wood. But Azam combined well with Fakhar to set a strong platform for the batters to come. Hafeez and Shoaib Malik took on the English bowlers to post 340 runs for the third consecutive innings.

“It was a very emotional hundred. I didn’t see it coming,” Roy told BBC Radio’s Test Match Special. “I had a bit of a rough morning so this one is a special one for me and my family. It was my little one. We had to take her to the hospital at 1:30 in the morning. I stayed there until 8:30 am, came back for a couple of hours sleep and got to the ground just before warm-up and cracked on,” he added.

Jason Roy has hit the form at the right time just before the World Cup which will be a massive news for England. The host begins their World Cup campaign on May 30 against South Africa at the Oval.
