Jofra Archer Is On England's Radar For ICC World Cup 2019 - Trevor Bayliss

After the rule changes, Jofra Archer got the nod to play for England in the ICC World Cup 2019. However, the selection panel is yet to decide whether to embed Jofra Archer in the national team or not. Meanwhile, Trevor Bayliss is optimistic of the youngster’s chances for the upcoming grand event.

Recently, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said overseas players would, from Jan. 1, become eligible to play for England after living in the country for three years rather than a previous seven. It meant that the Barbados-born all-rounder Jofra Archer will be eligible to play for England at next ICC World Cup 2019.

In fact, England has got the chance to play Jofra Archer in the ongoing series against Windies. But, for some obvious reasons, they decided against playing him for the team. However, the recent statement from Bayliss might give a good reason for Jofra Archer to be optimistic.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he quoted that they have played with only 17-18 members in the recent past. They would like to pick the 15-member squad from that pool but the chance for Jofra Archer is still open, as they can take any decision at the last moment before taking a final call.

“We’ve pretty much had the same 15, 16 or 17 players over the last three or four years,” Bayliss told Sky Sports. We could probably name a 15, there’s a Jofra Archer decision to be made at a later date. I think it’s getting down to that being the final piece of the jigsaw.”

Jofra Archer has made giant strides in the domestic cricket by performing for his sides on a regular basis. He also cracked the million dollar deal in Indian Premier League when Rajasthan Royals won fierce bidding battled during IPL 2018 auctions. He was retained for IPL 2019 as well.

Well, it seems like bells are ringing for Jofra Archer to live his dream of playing International Cricket. Going with the form and his calibre, it is expected that Archer can be the brilliant addition for England across the formats.
