Veteran allrounder Kieron Pollard will ply his trade for his home-based team Trinbago Knight Riders in the forthcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL). This will be the first time the T20 ace will be turning out for the Trinidad-based outfit. In the first six seasons of the CPL, Pollard represented Barbados Tridents for five years before turning out for St Lucia Stars last year.

And for the seventh season, Pollard is gearing up for a new challenge. He will be Knight Riders’ marquee player for this season.  The remainder of the squad will be selected at the players’ draft, to be held on May 22. Pollard is currently plying his trade for Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League. After a slow start to the season, Pollard has rediscovered his mojo and has already helped Mumbai storm into the final as he and the outfit eye their fourth IPL title.

Team Director Venky Mysore welcomed the signing as he expressed his delight over signing another local player for the team.

“We are delighted to welcome Pollard back home and it’s great to continue our efforts to bring as many Trini boys home as possible,” Mysore said in a statement. “I can’t wait for the reaction of the fans when Pollard takes the field at our opening game on 4 September.”

Pollard will be looking to contribute to Trinbago Knight Riders’ incredible success in the CPL. The Trinidad-based outfit is the most successful team in the history of the CPL, having won three of the first six seasons. Pollard, nonetheless, also knows what it takes to win the CPL, having won it once when he led Tridents to the title in 2014.
