Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Mortaza has been picked as the first cricketer in the Dhaka Premier League draft of the 207-18 season. The fast bowler was signed by Shinekpur Cricket Club who had the authority to ho for the first pick in the draft after winning the lottery. The tournament is slated to commence from February 5.

However as the tournament’s authority, the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolitan (CCDM) has allowed clubs to exchange players among themselves and in all likelihood, the Abahani Limited might well exchange the fast bowler as per reports in the ESPN Cricinfo. Meanwhile, each club has been allowed to retain five players from the previous season.

In the player’s draft on Saturday, Kalabagan Krira Chakra got the 2nd pick and snapped up Taibur Rahman before the Legends of Rupganj picked Mushfiqur Rahim. Meanwhile, Agrani Bank went to Al-Amin Hossain and arguably the greatest Bangladesh player of all time Mohammedan Sporting Club bagged Shakib-al-Hasan.

Liton Das, Yasir Ali and Nasir Hossain were snapped up by Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club, Brother Union and Abahani Limited respectively. It was the defending champions, the Gazi group of cricketers who secured the 9th pick by bagging southpaw Imrul Kayes while Mahmudullah went to Prime Bank Cricket Club.

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club bagged Nazmul Islam, and the last pick of the round was taken by Khelaghar Kallyan Samity who snapped up the services of Anamul Haque.
