MI vs RR: WATCH - "We Are Lucky To Have Him As A Leader" - Mumbai Indians Coaching Staff Hails Rohit Sharma On His 10 Years As Skipper Of The Team

Mumbai Indians (MI) coaching staff has hailed skipper Rohit Sharma for his contribution to the franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years. They said that they are lucky to have him as a leader and that the way he encourages young players is something that is admirable. 

MI skipper Rohit Sharma has completed 10 years as a skipper of the team in the IPL. The right-hander in the last decade has achieved that no one has been able to do so far in the league.  He’s the most successful leader in the tournament with 5 titles to his name.

Mumbai Indians will also dedicate their next IPL 2023 game against Rajasthan Royals to their skipper Rohit Sharma. The five-time champions will take on RR on Sunday at their home ground, the Wankhede Stadium.

Ahead of the game, Mumbai Indians coaching staff in Mark Boucher, Kieron Pollard, Shane Bond, and James Pamment lavished rich praise on Rohit Sharma for his contribution to the franchise. Speaking in a video posted on his MI’s Twitter account, Boucher and Pollard said: 

“Rohit had been around for a while and I can say that because I actually played against him and I’ve been out of the game for a while so. He’s been a great captain for Mumbai Indians. He’s got a wealth of experience.” Mark Boucher said. 

“He’s grown into leadership. Obviously, it was entrusted onto him in 2013, in the middle of the season, still pretty young at that point of time. That shows, you know, person’s have a great sort of acumen of what he cam accomplish, and we are lucky to have him as a leader. He’s got a wealth of experience as a matter of tapping into that and continue to see him into grow.” Kieron Pollard said.

MI vs RR: James Pamment and Shane Bond Laud Rohit Sharma for his incredible career with Mumbai Indians 

James Pamment highlighted the standout feature of Rohit Sharma’s leadership in the IPL. He said that he encouraged young players very well and has a nice manner about him. He elaborated: 

“Captains know how to just pull the strength and I think that’s one of the things that Rohit has done extremely well from being a very young captain when he won his first championship to obviously maturing into the leader. A great strength of his, he encourages the young Indian players very well and that’s important in a big competition like this. He’s got a nice manner about him.” 

Shane Bond while calling Rohit’s career incredible said that he’s a big personality for the team on and off the field. He explained: 

“His career is incredible. He’s such a big personality around our group, on and off the field. And particularly leading this team to where we are now, he’s done a brilliant job.”

Mumbai Indians are currently placed 8th on the points table with 3 wins and 4 losses. They would be hoping to turn things around when they meet Rajasthan Royals next.
