New Zealand will host Bangladesh for three ODIs and two Tests, with the first One-Dayer starting on Wednesday (February 13th) at the Mclean Park in Napier. The Kiwis are coming off a T20Is win over India. Though they fell short in the 50-over format; New Zealand ended the series on high. Bangladesh, on the other hand, played their last bilateral series against the Windies at home. Meanwhile, Cricket Addictor will bring you the weather report of the first ODI in Napier.

Plenty of sunshine awaits NZ-BAN clash

As per the weather report, there would be plenty of sunshine on offer for the first ODI. With no chances of thunderstorms predicted for Wednesday’s match, New Zealand and Bangladesh will fancy playing a complete game at the Mclean Park in Napier. The temperature would hover around 25 degrees Celcius during the day, but it will fall to 16 degrees at night. Thus the management of both the teams need not think too much about the conditions. All they need to worry is about playing good cricket, and gain as much momentum as possible leading into the 2019 World Cup.

The return of Martin Guptill will boost New Zealand’s confidence ahead of the first ODI. The 31-year old opener missed the last One-Day and the T20Is against India due to a back injury. Now, recovered in time, Guptill has replaced his partner, Colin Munro in the 14-man squad for the first two ODIs. Munro, however, will return for the last game where Kane Williamson will be on a ‘pre-planned’ rest. In Williamson’s absence, wicketkeeper-batsman, Tom Latham will lead the team.

Tamim Iqbal set to put the stage on fire

In the Bangladesh Premier League 2019 finale, Tamim Iqbal, playing for Comilla Victorians, scored an unbeaten 141 off 61 balls; hitting ten boundaries and eleven massive sixes. The way he batted on the d-day, it showed he is upbeat to perform well on the international stage as well. Though Bangladesh will miss the services of star all-rounder, Shakib al Hasan, they have their basics covered and will want to win games leading upto the World Cup.
