PCB Receives An Email Regarding Possible Attack On Indian Cricket Team In West Indies: Reports

PCB has received an email regarding a possible attack on the Indian cricket team in the Caribbean islands, where India are currently playing West Indies in a full-fledged series. While the news is yet to be confirmed, it comes as a big surprise and the BCCI will surely act on the report soon.

For now, there has been no word from either of the boards but BCCI is expected to take some steps very soon. Unlike India, where the cricketers are provided heavy security covers during matches, they do not get any such security in West Indies.

They travel freely there, without being bothered but since a threat email has been sent, the West Indies board is expected to provide security to the players.

Earlier this year, Bangladesh’s players had escaped an attack in New Zealand. BCB later raised questions as there was no security with the team. The third Test of the series, that was due to start a day later, was also cancelled. It remains to be seen if the BCCI takes prompt action, which the board is expected to take soon.

India have completed the first leg of the tour of West Indies. The series started earlier this month with two T20Is that were played in the USA. In the third T20I in Guyana, India registered another win. In the three-match ODI series, team India won 2-0. The first ODI was a washed-out affair.

India are preparing for the Test series with a three-day match against West Indies A in Antigua, which is the venue for the 1s test match that starts next week. The second Test will be played in Jamaica.

In the ongoing practise match, India hold the pole position as they have dismissed West Indies A’s two batsmen on 44. The visitors hold a lead of 253 runs.

India had declared their innings on 297/5. Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma warmed up well for the 1st Test. Pujara scored a century while Rohit scored 68.
