Ravindra Jadeja is all set to play competitive cricket after being rested by the Indian national selectors for the home series against Australia, the selectors have rested the duo of Ashwin and Jadeja but still manage to outplay the World Cup champions comprehensively.

The left-arm all-rounder will be seen taking the field on Saturday (14th October) against Jammu and Kashmir. Saurashtra’s head coach Shitanshu Kotak said that Jadeja has been with the team for the last couple of days.

“He (Jadeja) has been training with us for the last couple of days, and it is a good thing for the team to have him around,” said Kotak.

Saurashtra were clinical in their first game against Haryana and managed a big victory in the season opener but he still wants the team to work on their weaknesses and ride on the momentum.

“This home game against Jammu and Kashmir is crucial. We have got off to a good start and it is important to maintain that momentum. Jadeja comes with vast experience and that will help us do better at home,” said Saurashtra’s head coach.

In the end, Kotak said it is important for the young players to take as much input as possible before the two India international goes back for international duties.

“The preparation is good for the second match. A bit of fine-tuning was required here and there, and we have done it. We have a settled side, and the presence of Jadeja and Pujara will help us get the edge in the early stages of the tournament. That’s something we are looking forward to,” said Saurashtra coach.

India will soon take on Sri Lanka in three Tests, and Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja both have been an integral part of the Test team but the chances of them playing limited-overs cricket this year look very slim.
