Former India opener Virender Sehwag, on Thursday, condemned the deadly terror attack on a CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

In the worst-ever terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir,  a suicide bomber rammed his SUV packed with explosives into a CRPF bus on the Srinagar-Jammu highway, leaving the country in utter shock. According to media reports, at least 44 CRPF personnels were killed in a dastardly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama. The well-planned attack used a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (known as VBIED) to target a CRPF bus that was part of a 70-vehicle convoy.

The soldiers were on their way to Pulwama through the Srinagar-Jammu highway when a suicide bomber belonging to the terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad drove an explosive-laden SUV into the bus. The SUV — a Tata Sumo — was carrying explosives weighing nearly 300 kgs and the bus had 39 jawans on board. The attack was carried out by a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has termed it despicable and asserted that the sacrifices of security personnel will not go in vain.

People from all the fields, meanwhile, have come together to condemn the attack and pay tribute to the brave souls. The cricketing fratnerity also came forward as players from past and present took to Twitter to pay homage. Virender Sehwag was also one on the many cricketers who did their bit. The legendary batsman took to Twitter to express his pain over the attack.

“Really pained by the cowardly attack on our CRPF in J&K in which our brave men have been martyred . No words are enough to describe the pain. I wish a speedy recovery to those injured,” wrote Virender Sehwag.
