There is no doubt about the fact that the Indian cricketers are hero worshipped and wherever they go to play the support they get is always ample.

It has also joked in the past that even if Virat Kohli and Co. go and play on Mars, there would at least be a couple of fans to cheer for them. So when the South African crowd overpowered their Indian counterparts during the 2nd day of the 2nd Test it came as a dampener, However just when it looked bleak, from behind all the jazz came the sound of a Dhol.

The open press box at the SuperSport Park meant that the time of the Dhol and the sweet Indian music on foreign soil was audible clearly with chant India India. Several Indian fans were shouting their lungs out to keep the hosts motivated.

When CricketNext approached the group of Punjabi people of the Punjabi United Club, who have travelled all the way from Johannesburg to support his team and their favourite player Virat Kohli.

“We are a group of about 40-45 people, including the kids, and we have come here to support the Indian players. We belong to the Punjab United Club, and we are based in Johannesburg. This is our first visit to the SuperSport Park, but we are always present at the Wanderers in Jo’burg. The kids also wanted to watch their favourite player (Kohli) so we are all here and looking to enjoy ourselves,” Parminder Singh, chairman of the club, said.

Ishant Sharma Virat Kohli Hardik Pandya
Ishant Sharma believes Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli will take India out of trouble on day three of the Centurion Test.

Asked about the atmosphere in the stadium, Parminder said:

“We are loving every bit of this. While we are going to be definitely there at the Wanderers for the third Test as well, we will come back for the second ODI, sixth ODI and the second T20I. Not to forget the fourth ODI and the first T20I in Johannesburg. We love our cricket and nothing better than watching our Indian stars in action.”

India lost the opening Test in Cape Town but the group are sure about the fact that it would be 1-1 at the end of this Test,

“Wait till Kohli hits a hundred and gets even with the Proteas. The boys will surely win here. Also, we want to wish Kohli a very happy Lohri and Makar Sankranti,” Parminder said.
