Virat Kohli’s golden period with the bat in South Africa is something none of the Indian fans would want to end soon. Kohli scored his 34th ODI century in the third ODI at the Newlands in Cape Town and also scored his second highest ODI score. Kohli scored his second hundred in three matches in the ongoing series. Kohli is now just 41 runs away from being the highest scorer in an India vs South Africa bilateral series.

Kohli scored 112 runs in the first match in Durban and then scored an unbeaten 46 in the second ODI. Kohli’s performance in the limited overs format has been outstanding of late and these two centuries in the ongoing series has stamped his authority over the rest of the batsmen in the world. Kohli has now scored 318 runs in just three matches and is now 41 runs behind leading runs scorer AB De Villiers who scored 348 runs in 2015 in India. The tourists eventually won the series 3-2.

De Villiers was ruled out of the first three ODI’s due to a finger injury and will return to the playing XI in the remaining three matches.

The fourth match will be a Pink Day ODI to be played in Johannesburg. South Africa has a 100 percent win record when they play in their Pink jersey.
