Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has took a cue from the Vijay Shankar incident and asked the global governing council to impose stricter rule on wearing helmet. The modern-era has seen batsmen step out on the ground without wearing helmet especially while facing spinners in the limited-overs.

The IPL 2020 match no.43 between SRH and KXIP saw a moment where all-rounder Vijay Shankar avoided an injury as he took a blow on his while trying to take a quick single. He would have been seriously hurt had he not been wearing a helmet while batting. The situation triggered the tweet from Tendulkar.

Sachin Tendulkar wants ICC to make helmet mandatory at professional level

Tendulkar has asked the right questions as he said that the game has become faster but is it safe. He also mentioned about the Shankar incident and said that it could have been nasty. Furthermore, he wants the global governing council to intervene and take it on priority to make helmet mandatory for everyone.

“The game has become faster but is it getting safer? Recently we witnessed an incident which could’ve been nasty. Be it a spinner or pacer, wearing a HELMET should be MANDATORY for batsmen at professional levels. Request @icc to take this up on priority,” Tendulkar tweeted.

SunRisers Hyderabad will lock horn with Mumbai Indians in a do-or-die IPL 2020 contest later in the day. The match result will decide the fate for SRH as a win will help them topple KKR in the top four and enter the playoffs while a loss against the defending champions will see them out of the tournament.

While Mumbai Indians are sitting comfortably at the top of the table, SRH find themselves in a virtual quarter-finals, where the result of the match will decide their fate. The Hyderabad franchise however can take a lot of positives from their previous good performances in the IPL 2020.
