Sachin Tendulkar Leaves A Heartfelt Birthday Message For Mithali Raj

Indian women’s team captain Mithali Raj turned 35 on Sunday (December 3) and as expected tributes poured in from all corners for the talismanic player. The tributes were led by none other than batting legend Sachin Tendulkar as the former India star posted a heartfelt message for the star batswoman.

“Wishing one of India’s finest athletes a very happy birthday. @M_Raj03, you’ve already inspired millions of girls to take up sport and I’m sure will do so for many more to come. Have a great year ahead! #playitHERway,” Tendulkar wrote.

The inspirational player, who was named in BBC’s 100 most inspirational women list of 2017, led India to the finals of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in July this year,  is the leading run-getter in One Day Internationals and is the first and so far only woman cricketer to cross the 6,000-run mark in the 50-over format. The right-handed batswoman, who had scored a stunning 214 at the age of just 19 against England, also finished the World Cup as India’s leading run-scorer.

She had also led the team to the final of World Cup in 2005 which was Indian women team’s maiden final appearance.
