KKR vs MI Match Preview- IPL 2024, Match 60

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders are on a three-match winning run and topping the points table. They are on 16 points and way ahead in NRR (+1.453) as compared to the other teams. A win against MI should seal their playoff spot.

They defended 169 against Mi in the last game which should give the team a lot of confidence. They won their last two games defending and chased 153 against DC with overs to spare.

Shreyas Iyer the KKR skipper said that the team is in a very good headspace at the moment and the players are happy and know their roles for the team.

If the players play to their best ability against MI, they should secure another win for KKR and take them through to the playoffs.

KKR Squad

Shreyas Iyer (c), Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Sunil Narine, Suyash Sharma, Anukul Roy, Andre Russell, Venkatesh Iyer, Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakaravarthy, KS Bharat, Chetan Sakariya, Mitchell Starc, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Ramandeep Singh, Sherfane Rutherford, Manish Pandey, Sakib Hussain

Mumbai Indians

MI won their previous game against SRH which was after four consecutive losses. In the process, they have moved up to the ninth position on the points table. They can deliver killer punches to the teams they play in their last two games and KKR can be the one.

Nothing much has worked for the franchise this season. Hardik Pandya as the MI skipper finally took three wickets in the last game as he bowled his quota of overs. However, his batting remains a concern. Rohit Sharma too has not scored too many runs in the last few games.

He scored 12 and 4 in his last two outings. Ideally, Rohit will want to score some runs before the World Cup in the last two games. Jaspeit Bumrah is leading the Purple Cap race with 18 wickets. Piyush Chawla has helped him from the other side in the last two games.

KKR vs MI Key Battles

Sunil Narine vs Nuwan Thusara

Narine has been a revelation with the bat for KKR. He has been consistent at the top as well. The all-rounder could not score much in the last game against MI but will look to score big at Eden Gardens.

Phil Salt vs Jasprit Bumrah

Salt has scored over 300 runs in Kolkata in the matches that he has played here. He will be back at home and will fancy his chances against Jasprit Bumrah, especially in the powerplay.

Rohit Sharma vs Sunil Narine

Narine has dominated Rohit Sharma in the IPL dismissing him nine times in the league and he dismissed him in the last match as well. Once again, this will be a defining battle in the game.

Suryakumar Yadav vs Andre Russell

Russell has dismissed SKY thrice in the IPL including the last game when he was threatening to take the game away from KKR. The West Indian has delivered time and again for KKR and will look to dismiss SKY once again.

KKR vs MI Key Players

For KKR, Sunil Narine and Phil Salt will be key with the bat. Venkatesh Iyer who has a good record against MI will also be keyWith the ball, the spin twins, Narine and Chakravarthy will be key. Mitchell Starc took 4 wickets against MI in the last game.

For MI, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav hold the key with the bat as they have scored runs against KKR. With the ball, Jasperit Bumrah and Piyush Chawla will be key

Weather and Pitch

There is rain around in Kolkata at the moment and might play a spoilsport in the KKR vs MI match. There will be rain in the daytime and there are 25 percent chance of rain in the evening. The humidity levels will be around 88 percent.

Speaking about the pitch, Eden Gardens as a venue has been a high-scoring venue this season with scores of over 200 posted and chased down. Punjab Kings chased 260 at this venue which is the highest chase in IPL history. Given the conditions and the fast outfield, we can expect another high-scoring game.

Conclusion

KKR will look to seal their playoff berth with another win against MI in the league stage. MI with nothing to lose will look to play spoilsport in KKR's campaign who need to get to 18 to secure their playoff berth.
