The first day of the Pink Ball Test at Eden Gardens witnessed incredible turn out with fans making their way to the venue to watch it live from the stadium. Regarding the same, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Friday thanked the fans at Eden Gardens in a felicitation ceremony that was held at the end of the first day’s play in the first-ever day-night Test involving India.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, the pioneer of the pink-ball Test in India, acknowledged the fan support at the Eden Gardens on the historic occasion. He thanked them for supporting the Indian team in huge numbers and asked them to continue the support for the beloved team. The BCCI President asks fans across the country to bring back the glory of Test cricket.

More than 50,000 fans were at Eden Gardens on Friday as the stands at the iconic venue were packed. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, legendary Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh were part of the star-studded guest list on Day 1 of India’s 1st ever Pink ball Test.

“What we saw today at Eden Gardens is a huge step forward for Test cricket,” Ganguly said in his speech. ”It’s you — all the people in this stadium — who make cricket such a popular game.”

”We at the BCCI and the CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) thank you whole-heartedly for turning out in huge numbers for the first-ever pink-ball Test match in Kolkata. Hopefully, we will continue to see all of you turning up in Test matches, not just in Kolkata but throughout the country,” he said.

Not only the Indian cricketers but also BCCI had felicitated the champion players of other sports as well. The likes of Sania Mirza, current badminton world champion PV Sindhu, boxing great MC Mary Kom, were also felicitated by Sourav Ganguly on a grand occasion.

Coming to the match, fans had witnessed an intense action with the Pink Ball doing trick for the fast bowlers. The Pink ball surprised one and all with its massive movement off the deck to trouble the batsman. However, the Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara and the skipper Virat Kohli showed how to tackle Pink Ball under lights.
