Karnataka have released Manish Pandey from the squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Super League.

Pandey is a part of ODI squad to face South Africa, hence, he was not included. However, he could have played a game or two for the team but KSCA didn’t include him.

Mumbai though had named Shreyas Iyer and Shardul Thakur in their squad. Both of them are a part of India ODI squad for the ODI series.

R Vinay Kumar will continue to lead the team with likes of Karun Nair, Stuart Binny, Abhimanyu Mithun, Krishnappa Gowtham in the side. Karnataka will face Punjab, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Mumbai in four Super League games on January 21, 23, 24 and 25 respectively.

Karnataka won four off five games in the group stage and emerged as the table toppers from South Zone. Karun Nair played a pivotal role in team’s success as he scored 236 runs in five games and emerged out as second highest run-scorer in the league stage. He also scored one century.

In bowling department, Pravin Dubey is highest for his side with seven wickets in his account.

Karnataka’s contest against Hyderabad was marred with controversy when skipper, R Vinay Kumar got two runs added to teams’ total after the end of the first innings. In the end, Hyderabad lost the game by two runs only. Hyderabad team protested against the incident, which resulted in the second game of the day being delayed and cut down to 13 overs per side.

BCCI took a note off it and asked for a report from match referee, the result of which is yet to be announced by the board.
