Twitter Reaction: Rohit Sharma Storm Helps India Blow Away Bangladesh In Rajkot
Updated - 07 Nov 2019, 11:20 PM
Riding on skipper Rohit Sharma’s stunning knock of 85, India thrashed Bangladesh by eight wickets in the second T20I to draw level in the three-match series.
India started the chase in an electric fashion. While Shikhar Dhawan was not looking comfortable in the middle, Rohit Sharma came all guns blazing. Dhawan set the tone for the chase by hitting a couple of fours off Mustafizur Rahman in the very first over before Rohit took charge. In the third over, he hit two fours and a six off Mustafizur to get going.
By the time the powerplay ended, India had raced away to 63 for no loss with Rohit scoring 46 off them from just 21 overs. The last three overs of the powerplay yielded a staggering 41 runs. India had hit 8 fours and a couple of sixes inside the first six over as they started the chase in a stunning way.

Rohit soon completed his fifty with a six from just 23 balls. He continued his batting in the same manner while Dhawan looked more than happy to play as a second fiddle. In the tenth over, Rohit hit three consecutive sixes to take the score over the 100-run mark. By the time the tenth over ended, India were 113 for no loss. Five runs later, Aminul Islam castled Dhawan to put an end to the big stand.
Rohit departed soon too after scoring 85 from just 43 balls as he was given a standing ovation from the fans. India eventually crossed the finishing line in the 16th over with KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer in the middle.

Earlier in the game, Bangladesh scored 153 for 6. Put in to bat first, Bangladesh started brightly with the bat. Mohammad Naim set the tone for the innings by hitting three consecutive fours off Khaleel Ahmed in the very second over. Naim hit Khaleel for two more fours as the visitors raced away to 41 after 5 overs.
The openers added 60 runs before Liton Das departed. Naim and Soumya Sarkar then added 23 runs for the second wicket before Washington Sundar dismissed the former for 36. Yuzvendra Chahal then dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim and Sarkar in quick succession to reduce Bangladesh to 103 for 4 from 83 from 1. Skipper Mahmudullah played a handy knock of 30 to take his team close to the 150-run mark.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the match:
When I was growing up, Salim Durani was Mr Sixer in Indian cricket. Today, to a much larger degree, across any format, it is clearly Rohit Sharma. Amazing strike power!

I have mastered the art of watching cricket on mute and imagining commentary done by my favourite commentators. Just now it’s Tony Greg for Rohit Sharma’s shots 🙂 Uff . What would be your choice ? #Imagine

India maybe favourites but we should never take Bangladesh batsmen lightly in T-20s. They have a lot more experience than any other team given their batsmen play only 20 overs whatever be the format..#IndvBan

Rishabh Pant will definitely get better in the next match. An Indian wicket keeper always plays an important role in t20 finals against Bangladesh. #IndvBan
