Unmukt Chand, Sheldon Jackson to Play in Upcoming Season of TNPL

Former Under-19 skipper Unmukt Chand will be seen in action in the upcoming season of Tamil Nadu Premier League. The right-hander will feature for iDream Karaikudi in the third edition of the league.

Furthermore, Sheldon Jackson will play for Jones Tuti Patriots in TNPL 2018. Jackson has represented Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. Meanwhile, Unmukt Chand also played for Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.

The talented batsman, Chand also led the Under-19 Indian team to glory in the 2012 World Cup.

In fact, a total of 16 players outside Tamil Nadu will ply on their trade in the third season of the league. The TNPL had come up with new amendments that a particular team can include two uncapped other state Indian players.

Meanwhile, 112 players had shown their interest in taking part in the league. However, only 16 could break through in the squads of TNPL sides in the draft which was held at Chepauk Stadium on Wednesday.

“Allowing up to two outstation players for each franchise is bound to increase the quality of cricket and the level of competition. Playing alongside and against outstation players will further sharpen the skills of our players, and that was the thought behind the move,” said TNCA joint secretary RI Palani.

In fact, to be part of any particular side in TNPL, a player should possess a No Objection Certificate from its state team. Moreover, they should be an uncapped Indian player who didn’t play in the IPL 2018.
