Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj Singh have known each other for over a decade now. It all started way back in 2007 when Rohit made his India debut. Fast forward to 2019, Rohit has become one of the best batsman in the world while Yuvraj is in the twilight of his illustrious career. In the ongoing year, Rohit and Yuvraj are sharing the dressing room with each other for Mumbai Indians.  There is no doubt that both the batting stalwarts have developed a strong friendship now.

However, it was not at all like this in the early days.  Both the players have lifted the lid on their first interaction. And going by their narration, one can easily say that the first encounter between the Mumbai Indians teammates was not a pleasant one. In a recent interview for MI TV, Yuvraj and Rohit recalled their first meeting. Rohit started it by saying that while Yuvraj is like a big brother to him, the first few experiences were not at all good. Rohit also revealed a story where he was asked by Yuvraj to give up a particular spot in the team bus.

“Yuvi (Yuvraj) to me has always been like a big brother. Although the first few experiences were not good. So, Yuvi has a spot in the bus where he goes and sits. And I was sitting there. That’s where me and Yuvi had sort of .. I will not say argument but we had an eye to eye contact,” Rohit Sharma said.

At the same time, Rohit quickly pointed out that while Yuvraj was not arrogant, there was some attitude in him.

“Not that he is arrogant but he is Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj Singh means attitude and all that,” said Rohit.

Yuvraj, however, was not convinced by Rohit’s version of the story as he revealed his side of the story. The southpaw said that Rohit’s story had too much extra spice, saying:

“I remember when he came into the team and I shook his hand. He tells this story with too much extra spice,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rohit and Yuvraj will be looking for IPL glory when Mumbai Indians take on Chennai Super Kings in this year’s final on Sunday.
