With a gigantic 233 runs to chase, there was only one option for Mumbai Indians when they came out to bat against Kolkata Knight Riders. The chase started on a promising note for the three-time winners as Rohit Sharma hit two fours in the very first over. However, in the very following over Sunil Narine accounted for Quinton de Kock to peg back Mumbai. All eyes were on Rohit Sharma as Mumbai needed a solid start from the skipper.

However, Rohit did not last long either and departed in the very fourth over. On the third ball of the over bowled by Harry Gurney, Rohit went to play across the line but missed the ball. The ball went on to pin him on the pads and the umpire raised his fingers after the Knight Riders fielder appealed. However, Rohit was not impressed with the decision and reviewed it. But the replays showed the ball was hitting the stumps and the umpire’s call stayed.

Disappointed with the call, Rohit vented his frustration in a bizarre manner which can invite sanctions from the match officials. While walking back, Rohit had a word or two with the umpire. He then knocked down the bails with his bat at the bowler’s end too.

Here is a clip of that incident involving Rohit Sharma:

Meanwhile, earlier in the game, Andre Russell’s unbeaten knock of 80 and Shubman Gill’s 76 helped Knight Riders pile up 232 – the highest total of this year. The Knight Riders need to win this game at all cost to keep their playoff hopes alive. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, are well placed and need to win 1 of their remaining three games to make it to the playoffs. Even if they lose this game, they will two more shots at securing their playoffs berth.
