Team India fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been in spectacular form in recent times. He will be in the spotlight as India gear up for the historic day-night Test against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens in Kolkata starting from November 22. Ahead of the game, wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha hailed teammate Shami saying that he can be lethal on any conditions.

Since his return to cricket from the setback in his personal life, Mohammed Shami has come out with a different intensity. He has lost weight, looked fitter and used all the negatives to hone his craft. In the last two years, the Bengal cricketer has scalped 81 wickets at an average of 23 from 20 Test matches. Shami has the best strike-rate among bowlers in 2019.

Mohammed Shami can be lethal on any wicket: Saha

He recently jumped eight places to enter the top 10 of the ICC Test Rankings for bowlers. Shami hogged the limelight with his brilliant bowling claiming seven wickets in the first Test in Indore. Thus, all eyes will be on him as India play their first Test with the pink ball which is known to assist fast bowlers. Ahead of the game, Wriddhiman Saha hailed Mohammed Shami calling him deadly on any wicket and with any ball.

“With the form they (Shami, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav) are in, the pink ball is not a factor. Especially (Mohammed) Shami, he can be deadly on any wicket. He has pace and is able to extract reverse swing,” Saha said when asked whether colour of the ball will make more difference.

Furthermore, Wriddhiman Saha said that they haven’t yet checked how much movement is on offer as far as the pink ball is concerned. But whatever may be the situation is, it shouldn’t bother Indian pacers like Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav, who are in their top form making India the best fast bowling unit in this format.

“We are yet to see the movement of the pink ball. But the colour of the ball won’t matter with the current form of our pacers,” Saha concluded.

The historic day-night Test between India and Bangladesh will start from November 22 in Kolkata. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has planned to make it big affair with many dignitaries in attendance during the five-day match. Notably, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will ring the customary bell to start the match at Eden Gardens.
