England T20 World Cup 2022 Squad, Schedule, Match List, Players List, Predicted Playing XI. The England Men’s selection panel has picked a squad of 15 for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, which will be held in Australia beginning in October. Dawid Malan is called up after impressing in England’s recent series against South Africa. This year, the left-hander has a strike rate of 148.27 in T20Is and is Eoin Morgan’s like-for-like replacement.

Jos Buttler, who succeeded Eoin Morgan, who announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year, is leading the squad in his first major competition. Seam bowlers Chris Woakes and Mark Wood have both made the squads for the ICC Men’s 2022 T20I World Cup after overcoming their respective injuries.

Jason Roy was not included in the 15-man England team because England prefers Phil Salt, who made his T20I debut earlier this year, after a disappointing run for his country’s side and in The Hundred. Since the final T20I World Cup in the UAE in 2021, Jason Roy has played in 11 T20 Internationals, scoring 206 runs at an average of 18.72.

England T20 World Cup 2022 Squad

Alex Hales has been called up by England for the first time since 2019 as a replacement for Jonny Bairstow in the T20I World Cup squad. The 33-year-old has not played for England since being dropped from the 50-over World Cup squad in March 2019 because of an “off-field incident”. Jonny Bairstow, 32, was ruled out after suffering a possible broken left leg while playing golf.

Tymal Mills, the leading wicket-taker from the last tournament until his injury ended the campaign, has been left out of the starting lineup but has been included as a travelling reserve along with Liam Dawson and Richard Gleeson.

England T20 World Cup 2022 Predicted Playing XI

England’s probable playing XI – Jos Buttler (c), Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, David Willey, Chris Jordan, Reece Topley, Adil Rashid.

Jos Buttler

England skipper Jos Buttler made a successful return to International Cricket by scoring 68 of 32 balls against Australia in the 1st T20I. The right-handed batter was on the England Tour of Pakistan but did not feature in a single T20I match out of 7 T20Is due to an injury.

The inclusion of Jos Buttler was a huge boost to England as the batter got acclimatized to the Australian conditions-the venue of the upcoming 2022 T20I World Cup. He had an outstanding 2021 T20I World Cup where he scored 269 runs with 1 ton-career best of 101* averaging 89.67 in 6 T20Is.

Alex Hales

Following a failed drug test in 2019 that resulted in Eoin Morgan removing Alex Hales from England’s white-ball setup, he spent three years in the wilderness until being selected for the seven-match series against Pakistan. He scored 130 runs averaging 21.67 in 6 T20Is in the Pakistan tour. He also smashed a 51-ball 84 against Australia in Perth in the 1st T20I.

The selectors decided to give him a chance when regular opener Jonny Bairstow sustained an injury last month because of his superior performance in the BBL.

Dawid Malan

Dawid Malan scored 174 runs in 6 matches in the Pakistan series averaging 34.8. Dawid Malan smashed unbeaten 78 runs off 47 balls to help England score 209/3 in 20 overs while batting first and then the English bowlers put in impressive spells to restrict the hosts to just 142/8 to register a big 67-run win in the last-series deciding 7th T20I.

Moeen Ali

Moeen Ali scored 142 runs in 4 innings averaging 142 in the Pakistan 7-match T20I tour. The stand-in skipper had the best batting average of 142 and 3rd highest strike rate of 159.55.

Moeen Ali captained England’s Twenty20 side in their 4-3 series win over Pakistan in the absence of the injured Jos Buttler and will be a key player for the team in this month’s T20I World Cup in Australia.

Liam Livingstone

England’s Liam Livingstone feels like “a kid in the backyard” after an injury-enforced break from cricket gave him chance to mentally refresh. The batter will be hoping to return in the warm-up against Pakistan on October 17 as England begin the T20 World Cup campaign against Afghanistan in Perth on October 22.

The 29-year-old has not played since August 23 after suffering ankle ligament damage following an innocuous trip and is set to miss England’s final two T20s against Australia this week, in Canberra on Wednesday and Friday.

Liam Livingstone, who hit England’s fastest-ever hundred, from just 42 balls, in a T20 international against Pakistan at Trent Bridge in July 2021, says the break from cricket has refreshed him mentally.

Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes is slated to bat at No 4 for England in the T20 World Cup but is his place under pressure as he hasn’t played much T20 for a while. Ben Stokes struggled during his short stay in the 1st T20I against Australia.

Meanwhile, he also suffered a freak injury as he got hit on the chin while attempting a reverse scoop. He failed to make an impact in the game and was dismissed for a nine-ball nine. With the ball, he was wicketless and returned with figures of 0/18 in 2 overs.

Sam Curran

Left-arm fast bowling all-rounder Sam Curran was forced to sit out last year’s World Cup after suffering a stress fracture in his lower back but is backfiring for the tournament in Australia. But after playing a key role in England’s build-up, including a nerveless display at the death to help win the first T20I against Australia, Sam Curran admits he is starting to dream.

Jos Buttler will probably have to decide on selecting two from four pacer all-rounders with Chris Jordan, David Willey and Chris Woakes making up the quartet. Sam Curran did his prospects no harm taking 7-2 defending 16 in the final over as England got over the line in a high-scoring opener in Perth even if he almost certainly needs to do more with the bat.

David Willey

David Willey picked 7 scalps in 6 T20Is in the Pakistan series averaging 27.57. David Willey is waiting in the wings after he wasn’t included in the XI for the 1st T20I against Australia. Mark Wood and Reece Topley are the likeliest candidates for a rest in the 2nd T20I against hosts Australia.

Chris Jordan

Chris Jordan could be set for his first outing of the winter after a finger injury in the 2nd T20I against Australia. Chris Jordan, 33, is sidelined with a fractured middle finger in his right hand, as he missed England’s first official trip to Pakistan for 17 years, following Australia’s first visit to Pakistan since 1998 in the spring.

Despite his injury, Chris Jordan is in England’s 15-man 2022 T20I World Cup squad to travel to Australia next month.

Reece Topley

Reece Topley who had picked 6-24, the best figures by any England bowler in a recent ODI against India in India’s last tour, has picked 21 scalps in 20 T20Is. His career best is 3/22 in a T20I in that series against India.

Adil Rashid

Adil Rashid, the right-arm leg break spinner has picked 89 scalps in 84 T20Is averaging 24.64. He had an excellent 2021 T20I World Cup where he picked 9 scalps in 6 games averaging 16.22 including his career-best figures of 4/2. His recent form isn’t that great but he is a sure-shot starter in England’s XI.
