Sachin Tendulkar, legendary Indian cricketer has lavished rich praise on young left-handed pace bowler Arshdeep Singh, saying that the lad has impressed him a lot in his short international career in which he has seen both ups and downs.

One of the best finds of the Indian cricketing system, Arshdeep Singh came through the U19 cricket after winning the 2018 Youth World Cup win, amazed one and all in his debut IPL season in 2019, and was one of the few players retained by the Punjab Kings franchise going forward. He has played 4 seasons of the tournament, picking 40 wickets in 37 matches, with a best of 5/32 at an economy of 8.35.

He recently made his India debut in T20Is against England and had quite an experience during the Asia Cup T20 tournament, where he earned praise for almost defending 7 runs in two matches in the 20th over, but was also criticized, abused, and harassed on social media for dropping an important catch against Pakistan.

Arshdeep Singh Has Shown A Lot Of Promise: Sachin Tendulkar

He tasted the first hammering of his T20I career when he went for 62 runs in his 4 overs as South Africa chased down over 200 runs in a Guwahati match recently. But he did well in the two practice matches against Western Australia picking 3/6 and 1/25 while taking one wicket against Australia in the warmup match.

Talking about Arshdeep Singh’s exciting prospect, Sachin Tendulkar lavished rich praise on the left-arm pacer.

He told PTI: “Arshdeep has shown a lot of promise, and he looks a balanced guy. And whatever I have seen of him, he looks a committed fellow because you can see a player, you can make out looking at his mindset.

What I really like is that if Arshdeep has a plan, he commits to it, and that is really, really important in this format as batters are going out and playing those extra shots, and some innovative ones. So if you have a plan, commit to it.”

It remains to be seen how Arshdeep Singh will do when he gets to bowl against Pakistan once more, but this time at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in front of almost 100,000 fans when India and Pakistan clash on October 23rd in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
