Pakistan quick Shaheen Shah Afridi is already firing on all cylinders in the upcoming important clash against India in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 on October 23rd which will be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Australia.

Afridi made his comeback to top-tier cricket after spending a few months on the sidelines due to a knee injury which led to him going to London on his own dime and getting surgery from doctors suggested by his future father-in-law and former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi.

Shaheen missed the Asia Cup 2022, where Pakistan lost in the finals to Sri Lanka, and then the home T20I series against England as well. He made his return in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 warmup match against England where he bowled two overs and then showed that he got his swing and movement back in the Afghanistan match.

The Feeling Of Walking With Braces Was Quite Difficult: Shaheen Afridi On His Recovery Form Knee Injury

The left-arm quick had sustained the right knee ligament injury while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle in July and was kept on the sidelines ever since.

On Thursday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared a video of his recovery on social media where the 22-year-old spoke to teammate Haris Rauf and admitted that it was a tough phase but fought on determinedly.

“It was very a tough phase in the rehab process and I missed playing on the field. But despite being away from the game I did call my teammates at times and spoke to them. At first I could not even walk. But the aim was to play in the T20 World Cup and my focus was on doctors’ advice.

“I had never had such an injury and the feeling of walking with braces was quite difficult. I used to experience pain but took things slowly and then reaped benefits,” Shaheen said.

“Slowly I regained 80 percent fitness and then 90 and finally 100 percent. When you return from an injury the body does not react perfectly but I understood that I have to be patient. I thank my fans for the love and support,” he added.
