The T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 match between Team India and Pakistan got off to an incredible start on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) (October 23). Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan and a productive opener, was bounced back by Arshdeep Singh with his first delivery in his World Cup debut for a golden duck.

Babar was caught exactly in front of the wickets by the Punjab left-arm pacer bowling the second over of the innings. Babar immediately chose the DRS, but the outcome favored the bowlers.

Arshdeep made a remarkable recovery after being cruelly ridiculed during India’s most recent match against Pakistan, their bitter rivals. In the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 game in Dubai last month, Arshdeep botched a crucial catch, which resulted in India’s loss and elimination from the tournament’s final. After the defeat, Arshdeep was viciously mocked on social media, his Wikipedia page was vandalized, and the pacer for the Punjab Kings was called a “Khalistani.”

Even thoughleft-arm Arshdeep has only participated in a few games so far, Team India has continued to believe in the young pacer. In his second over, Arshdeep displayed his exceptional talent by dismissing Mohammad Rizwan, Babar’s opening partner.

After nearly giving Virat Kohli at mid-on a leading edge, Rizwan was victimized by Arshdeep Singh’s short ball and pulled it straight down Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s throat at fine leg.

Twitter Reacts on Arshdeep Singh Spell:

After being put into bat by Rohit Sharma, Pakistan was reduced to 15/2 in just a few overs, which was a terrible start for the semifinalist for the T20 World Cup in 2021. In the 2019 50-over World Cup, all-rounder Vijay Shankar dismissed Pakistan’s Imam-ul-Haq with his first ball, and in the 2022 tournament, it was Arshdeep Singh’s turn.
