IND vs AUS- Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma Climbs Up to 8th Spot In ICC Rankings

Following his match-defining century in Nagpur, India’s captain Rohit Sharma has climbed up two spots in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings, moving from 10th to 8th position. 

Rohit Sharma’s impressive knock of 120 came after Australia had been bowled out for just 177 in their first innings. His composed and assured innings on a seemingly tricky wicket set the tone for the rest of the match and was instrumental in India’s comprehensive victory.

David Warner and Usman Khawaja, Australia’s opening batsmen, have faced the consequences of their poor performances in the first Test against India, where both of them were dismissed cheaply in both innings. 

Warner has suffered a significant drop of six places in the ICC Rankings and now occupies the 20th spot, following his scores of 1 and 10. On the other hand, Khawaja has dropped two places to 10th in the rankings, after his dismal scores of 1 and 5 in the match.

Axar Patel Benefits Stellar Performance As He Climbs To 7th Place In ICC Rankings

Axar Patel, the Indian all-rounder, has made a significant rise of six spots to 7th in the ICC Men’s Test All-Rounder Rankings, following his impressive innings in the first Test against England. 

Coming in to bat at a critical juncture, with India at 240/7, Patel displayed great resilience and scored a patient 84 runs, which is his highest score in Test cricket.

In the batting rankings, West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite has also moved up by four spots to the 21st position, after scoring a brilliant knock of 182 runs in the first Test against Zimbabwe. 

Meanwhile, Brathwaite’s opening partner, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, has made a remarkable jump of 28 spots to reach the 58th position in the ICC Rankings, thanks to his outstanding unbeaten knock of 207 runs in the same Test against Zimbabwe.
