Former England all-rounder Michael Vaughan has shared crucial advice for England ahead of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test in Rajkot. Michael Vaughan feels England batters need to pull up their socks in the next Test if they want to win the encounter.

IND vs ENG 3rd Test is all set to commence on Thursday, February 15 at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. The series is tied 1-1 after two games. England won the 1st Test by 28 runs while India won the 2nd Test by 106 runs.

Michael Vaughan shares crucial advice for England

In his column for The Telegraph, cricketer-turned-commentator Michael Vaughan advised the England team to level up their batting in the IND vs ENG 3rd Test. He also added that England will not win the match if they bat like the way they did in the previous Test in Visakhapatnam.

“England will not win the series if they bat the way they did in Visakhapatnam. I actually think the batsmen need to take a leaf out of the bowlers’ book. With ball in hand, they have been quite traditional at times, aggressive at others, and they have gone up and down the gears in terms of how attacking their fields have been,” the 49-year-old wrote.

Young spinners have been fantastic: Vaughan

Notably, Zak Crawley was the only England batter to reach a half-century in the previous Test. Michael Vaughan also heaped praises on young England spinners Rehan Ahmed, Shoaib Bashir, and Tom Hartley. However, he feels that England needs to add two seamers to the playing 11 for the next Test.

“The young spinners have been fantastic but, for me, James Anderson’s brilliant performance shows that they have to get another seamer, probably Ollie Robinson, in the side with him,” he further wrote.

Tom Hartley gave a match-winning performance in the IND vs ENG 1st Test during his debut. The left-arm spinner hunted a 7-wicket haul in the 2nd innings to restrict India from chasing down 231 in the match. With 14 scalps, Tom Hartley is the leading wicket-taker for England after two encounters.

Rehan Ahmed has also been quite impressive with 8 wickets across 2 matches. Shoaib Bashir picked 4 wickets in the India vs England 2nd Test, where he made his debut. Notably, England spinners have hunted more wickets than Indian spinners so far in the IND vs ENG series.

England have improved massively under Ben Stokes: Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan, who played for England from 1999 to 2008, also believes that England has improved a lot in Test under skipper Ben Stokes.

“England have become a difficult team to criticize too much because they are so good to watch. Every game they play has us all absolutely gripped, and they have improved massively under Ben Stokes”, Michael Vaughan added.

However, smacking 420 on the board in the 2nd innings, they managed to sneak an impressive victory in the end by 28 runs. The India vs England Test series will witness 5 matches.
