Danish Kaneria declares Yashasvi Jaiswal as combination of Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team spin bowler Danish Kaneria has lavished rich praise on the 22-year-old India National Cricket Team left-handed opening Yashasvi Jaiswal and labeled him as the combination of the India batting greats – Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag.

Jaiswal has taken the cricketing world by storm with his exceptional batting performance in his short international career. He has emerged as one of the best youngsters in world cricket and has been scoring runs consistently for the India National Cricket Team.

Jaiswal has been highly impactful for India in Tests and T20Is and his inclusion in the ODI squad isn’t very far away. The young batter has made himself a permanent member of the team in both the Test and T20I teams and is likely to represent the side in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies the and USA.

He is currently taking part in the five-match Test series against England National Cricket Team at home. In the first Test, Yashasvi Jaiswal hit 80 & 15, but unfortunately, India faced a defeat in the match.

Yashasvi Jaiswal bettered his performance after the first game and smashed a sensational double century in the second Test and followed it up with yet another double century in the third Test. However, he turned out to be unlucky in both games as he wasn’t able to win the Player of the Match award. So far, Yashasvi Jaiswal has amassed 545 runs in 6 innings at an astonishing average of 109.00.

In a video shared on his official YouTube channel, Danish Kaneria said that Yashasvi Bhupendra Kumar Jaiswal is a combination of Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag. He said:

“Yashasvi Jaiswal is a combination of Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag. He is like a left-handed version of Virender Sehwag. James Anderson is one of the finest fast bowlers and has taken close to 700 wickets. He has been there for ages. He made a plan to trap Jaiswal, but that kid understood the game and destroyed the trap.”

Kaneria also spoke about the middle-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan, who made his debut in the Rajkot Test. Danish Kaneria said that Sarfaraz stamped his authority with his brilliant performance in the match. Notably, Sarfaraz Khan smashed a half-century in both innings and became just 4th Indian in history to achieve that feat.

“Sarfaraz Khan had been knocking on the selectors’ doors for a long time now, and when he finally got a chance, he stamped his authority. He showed the kind of cricket he plays. It was one of the best innings; he was brilliant.”

India National Cricket Team are currently leading by 2-1 in the five-match Test series against England National Cricket Team and the fourth Test match will be played from February 23 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi.

India have made a significant change to the squad for the fourth Test as Jasprit Bumrah has been released to manage his workload while star batsman KL Rahul has been ruled out of the match in a major setback for India. Rahul is also doubtful for the fifth Test.
