Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh congratulated wicket-keeper batter, Rishabh Pant after the latter scored his maiden ODI century in the third and final ODI against England on Sunday.

The match got underway with the series balanced at 1-1. England batted first and put up 259 on the board with Jos Buttler top-scoring (60). Hardik Pandya took four wickets and ended with career-best figures of 4/24 in 7 overs.

In response, India stumbled its way to 72/4, with Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli failing to contribute much. Pant then joined hands with Hardik to stitch the match-winning partnership of 133 runs for the 5th wicket.

While Hardik fell after making 71 in 55 balls, Pant carried on and brought up his first century in the 50-over format. Following the conclusion of the game, Yuvraj tweeted indicating he had a chat with the 24-year-old that worked well.

Looks like the 45-minute conversation made sense!! Well played @RishabhPant17. That’s how you pace your innings. @hardikpandya7, great to watch #indiavseng,” tweeted Yuvraj.

“I was focusing on one ball at a time when I was batting” – Rishabh Pant

Pant said he was happy to be able to play to the situation and to take the team home from a terrible situation (72/4 while chasing 260) is always a great feeling.

Hopefully I remember (this knock) for the rest of my life. I was focusing on one ball at a time when I was batting. When your team is under pressure and you bat like that .. something I aspire to do.”

I always enjoy playing in England, at the same time enjoy the atmosphere and the situation. The more you play the more experience you gain,” Pant said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
