India vs West Indies, IND Playing 11 vs WI (Predicted), 3rd ODI, India Tour Of West Indies 2022. India will play against West Indies in the inconsequential 3rd ODI on 27th July 2022 at 7:00 pm IST in Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. India won the first 2 matches and in the process won the ODI series 2-0 with one more match to go. They will look to give chances to a few other players in the squad and test their bench strength further.

West Indies on the other hand played impressive cricket despite losing both the matches in this series. They will look for a consolation win before going into the T20I series. Despite being a dead rubber one expect a close contest going by the trend of the series.

In the 2nd ODI, India’s top order got starts but failed to make them big and was reeling at 79/3 before Shreyas Iyer (64 runs) and Sanju Samson (54 runs) made a 99-run partnership to bring the chase back on track.  Deepak Hooda (33 runs) and Axar Patel (64* runs) then took forward the chase with the latter playing a blinder in the final over of the finish.

Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel had very economical figures and chipped in with a wicket each in the middle overs. Shardul Thakur took 3 wickets while Mohammed Siraj bowled superbly giving runs at less than 5 RPO. Yuzvendra Chahal and Avesh Khan went for a few runs in the last game. Arshdeep Singh might get a chance in the playing XI in this match.

It was back-to-back wins for Team India in the ODI series as they made history on Sunday. The stunning final over win saw India register their 12th consecutive series win against the West Indies in the ODI format. Shikhar Dhawan-led India will now eye a whitewash having already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI series. With the players in form and the T20I series coming, Team India remains the favourite to secure a whitewash.

The dead-rubber encounter presents India a perfect opportunity to hand Arshdeep Singh his debut for the Indian team after warming the bench.

The likes of opener Shubman Gill have given a great account of themselves as they continue to keep Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan out of the Playing 11, but either or both of them could get a chance in the dead rubber. Avesh Khan on the flip side should continue in the Playing 11 having secured his first cap on Sunday.

Considering the series is the only chance for India to tinker with combination, coach Rahul Dravid may want to see Arshdeep Singh. Rahul Dravid has so far changed just one player, bringing in Avesh Khan for Prasidh Krishna. He has followed the pecking order and has not considered using new talent.

That has seen Arshdeep Singh being benched for two consecutive matches. But for the 3rd ODI, India has a chance to change combination with Shardul Thakur looking the ideal choice to be dropped. Shardul Thakur hasn’t lived up to the expectation of a bowling all-rounder role. Even though he has picked up 5 wickets in two games, it has come at a 7.2 economy rate.

Sanju Samson was the star for India in the second ODI, but he may have to make way for the other wicketkeeper in the side – Ishan Kishan. Ishan Kishan, who is usually a constant in T20Is nowadays, missed the first two games.

Before the start of the series, Ruturaj Gaikwad was the favourite to open with captain Shikhar Dhawan, but the management backed Shubman Gill – who did not disappoint. Now, with the series in the bag, there is no harm in giving Ruturaj Gaikwad his maiden ODI cap.

The ODI series against West Indies will be Shikhar Dhawan’s second assignment as Indian team captain after the left-handed batter led the side during the Sri Lanka tour last year in ODIs and T20Is. Shikhar Dhawan opened the innings with Rohit Sharma in the ODIs against England.

He made scores of 31 not out, 9, and 1 in the England ODIs, where he averaged a paltry 20.5 amassing 41 runs. He top scored in the 1st ODI against hosts West Indies. His 97 of 99 balls consisted of 10 fours and 3 sixes. He will be disappointed after missing out on a century. He scored only 13 off 31 balls in the 2nd ODI.

Shubman Gill will probably open the innings with skipper Shikhar Dhawan again. Shubman Gill scored 64 runs off 53 balls -his maiden ODI fifty – before being run out by Nicholas Poooran in the 1st ODI won by visitors. His innings comprised 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Shubman Gill has so far played 11 Tests and 5 ODIs where he averages 30.47 and 31.2 respectively. He has scored 4 Test fifties besides the ODI fifty he scored in the 1st match of the ongoing series. Shubman Gill followed his 64 with another excellent inning of 43 off 49 balls including 5 fours in the 2nd ODI.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer has played 29 ODIs for India and scored 1064 runs at 42.56 with 11 fifties and one century against New Zealand. He scored 54 off 57 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes in the 1st ODI against hosts West Indies. In the 2nd ODI, he scored 63 off 71 balls including 4 fours and a six and was instrumental in India’s win.

Shreyas Iyer played in the first ODI against England at The Oval but wasn’t required to bat. He was benched in the second game at Lord’s after Virat Kohli returned to the team with complete fitness. Shreyas Iyer struggled against short balls in the rescheduled fifth Test match against England and did not get many chances in the white-ball series, barring the third T20I where he scored 28.

Suryakumar Yadav scored 13 off 14 balls in the 1st ODI against hosts West Indies before being bowled by Akeal Hosein. He scored only 9 off 8 balls before being bowled by Kyle Mayers in the 2nd ODI. The Mumbai batter has played 12 ODIs and amassed 332 runs at an average of 36.89. He also featured in 19 T20Is where he managed 537 runs at 38.35. He has hit 2 fifties in ODIs and 1 ton and 4 fifties in T20Is.

Suryakumar Yadav is known to bring out his best during pressure situations which were evident during the third T20I against hosts England where he scored a 55-ball 117 and helped India post 198 chasing a mammoth 216. Suryakumar Yadav was in fabulous touch with the bat on the England tour. He slammed his maiden T20I hundred in the final match in Nottingham.

Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson played only 1 ODI in Sri Lanka 2021 tour where he scored 46 runs before scoring 12 runs off 18 balls in the 1st ODI against hosts West Indies. He scored 54 off 51 balls-his maiden ODI fifty in the 2nd ODI before being run out. He has scored 112 runs in 3 ODIs averaging 37.33.

Sanju Samson, who has never had a decent run at the international level, was dropped for the West Indies T20Is after he had played just one T20I against Ireland and had registered his highest score for India (77). Since his debut in Zimbabwe way back in 2015, Sanju Samson has only played 14 T20Is for India. He has managed 215 runs at a meagre average of 19.30 in 14 T20Is.

Deepak Hooda

Deepak Hooda, who has scored a ton against Ireland in T20Is, scored 115 runs in 4 ODIs averaging 38.33, and 205 runs in 6 T20Is averaging an excellent 68.33 at a phenomenal strike rate of 172.27.

Deepak Hooda made his ODI debut against West Indies in February this year and played a couple of games. He scored 27 of 32 balls in the 1st ODI on the West Indies tour. He scored 33 off 36 balls in the 2nd ODI and took 1/42 including Kyle Mayer’s scalp bowling 9 overs.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel scored 21 off as many balls in the 1st ODI against hosts West Indies but returned wicketless in the match conceding 43 runs off 7 overs at an economy rate of 6.1. He will have an additional burden on his shoulders as vice-captain Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the series due to injury.

The left-arm batter and spin all-rounder has played 6 Tests where he has picked 39 scalps averaging a phenomenal 12.43 but he hasn’t tasted similar success in limited overs format. He has picked up 46 scalps in 40 ODIs averaging 32.43 and 16 scalps in 23 T20Is averaging 31.75.

Axar Patel was the Man of the Match in the 2nd ODI, picking 1/40 bowling 9 overs besides scoring an all-important 35-ball unbeaten career-best 64 which was pivotal to India’s come-from-behind victory chasing 312. His innings comprised 3 fours and 5 sixes.

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh may make his debut in the inconsequential 3rd ODI against West Indies in place of Shardul Thakur, who despite picking up 3/54 in the 2nd ODI was expensive conceding 7.7 runs per over. With the series in the bag, Arshdeep Singh may be tried out. In the 1st ODI too, Shardul Thakur was expensive -6.8 RPO despite picking up 2/54.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal has picked 114 wickets in 66 ODIs at an average of 27.18 and an economy rate of 5.23. His 16 dismissals have come against West Indies with best figures of 4/49. He picked 2/58 in the 1st ODI against hosts West Indies bowling a full quota of 10 overs. He was a tad expensive in the 2nd ODI, returning with figures of 1/69 in 9 overs.

Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan debuted in the ODI 50 overs format in the 2nd ODI against West Indies in place of an out-of-form Prasidh Krishna. He bowled only 6 overs and conceded 54 runs at an economy rate of 9-recording the most expensive figures in that match by an Indian bowler. He also was wicketless.

Mohammed Siraj

Ever since he made his ODI debut in 2019, Mohammed Siraj has only been able to play 7 ODI matches, taking 9 wickets at an economy rate of 5.22 averaging 37.67, with his best bowling figures being 3/29 against the West Indies during the home series earlier this year.

Mohammed Siraj returned with figures of 2/57 in the 1st ODI against West Indies, picking up scalps of Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran.  The Hyderabad pacer would be hoping to contribute with the ball in hand in the Caribbean series. He was one of the most economical Indian bowlers in the 2nd ODI as he returned with figures of 0/47 in 10 overs.
