Chennai Super Kings all-rounder and IPL’s all-time wicket-taker Dwayne Bravo kidded about his partnership with MS Dhoni during CSK’s 91-run prevail over Delhi Capitals in Match 55 of the ongoing season in Mumbai on Sunday, saying he was stressed over his hamstrings as the captain pushed him to run for twos.

Bravo came into bat in the last over of the Chennai innings, confronting a hat-trick ball against Anrich Nortje with only 3 balls left to play. Dhoni was ablaze on Sunday as he took the assault to the Delhi bowlers after Devon Conway (87) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (41) gave CSK a 110-run opening stand.

MS Dhoni finished the innings without scoring a boundary in the last over however he pushed hard and ran between the wickets like a youngster to get two 2s and assist CSK with posting 208 on the board.Bravo needed to plunge to finish the first double as the veteran all-rounder was panting for breath toward the finish of the innings.

Talking after CSK’s pounding prevail upon DC, Bravo reviewed his thrilling discussion with MS Dhoni in the last over of their innings.

“Well, for me it was a hat-trick ball. I wanted to make sure I get him on strike. I told him to hit boundaries, not push me for twos,” Bravo told the official broadcasters.

“I told him after the innings ‘MS, 3 balls to again (if such a situation comes again), let someone else go and run because I have to protect my hamstring’.

“But if felt good to be batting with a great. I thought it was a great professional team display, it started with Rutu and Conway. The way they set up the game with their batting (Was good) and then we finished off with the ball as well. Every game we play, we have to play like professionals and look to dominate.”

Bravo, 39, has been in great form with the ball for CSK in IPL 2022, getting 16 wickets in only 9 matches. Revealing insight into how he keeps up with his fitness and keeps himself new, the West Indies all-rounder said he ensures he doesn’t exhaust himself while preparing.

“I am still feeling fresh. I don’t allow my age to dictate how I play. I try to look after my body, and try not to overwork myself. Do a lot of massages, gym work, and recovery as well.

“I do what it takes to keep me on the park, I know my experience will get me through. So I try not over-bowl in practice sessions. Just try to execute right with yorkers and variations.

“I am feeling good, I am happy to be competing with the young generation and the new stars in the IPL,” Bravo added.

With the pounding 91-run win, CSK moved to the eighth spot on the points table, taking their Net Run Rate over 0. CSK has an external possibility of making the playoff games however Bravo said the 4-time champions are not focussing on the possibilities.

“Someone said it’s 15 different scenarios. We don’t need to hear them, let’s focus on winning the games, that will take itself. We want to continue to win and finish off this season strong,” he added.

CSK will next face arch-rivals Mumbai Indians on May 12 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
