As Ravindra Jadeja prepares for his debut match as CSK captain, Aakash Chopra has identified a key challenge for him.

The Chennai Super Kings sent chaos among their fan base when they declared MS Dhoni stepping down as captain just two days before the tournament’s planned opening game.

Ravindra Jadeja, an all-rounder, has been appointed a new captain of the team, and in his debut game, he and the coaching staff will have to make a major decision about the playing XI.

In a review of the game later tonight, former India opener Aakash Chopra remarked that the CSK team management will be left shaking their heads about the quantity of spinner they should be bowling against KKR.

“Brav0, Hangargekar, Jordan, and Milne. I suppose this is the approach I will choose. As a result, there will be three fast bowlers from abroad. I’ll consider Theeksana, but I’m not sure I’ll play him since this Wankhede pitch may not support spin as much as I’d want.”

“If Moeen Ali isn’t available, Jaddu will be the only spinner available. Then you’ll have to reconsider, and maybe Maheesh Theeksana, which is the question Jaddu will have to address now that he’s in charge of the team,” Aakash added.

Openers should be Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad: Aakash Chopra

Devon Conway, along with Ruturaj Gaikwad, is expected to be the first pick as an opener.

“I’m presuming Ruturaj is available, and I’d like to start with Devon Conway alongside him. It will be a blend of left and right. Devon Conway is a highly smart player, and all smart players end up in Chennai. Ruturaj should have a good year, in my opinion “Aakash stated.

The Chennai Super Kings will play Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 26 march to kick off their 2022 Indian Premier League campaign.
