IPL 2022: Former Cricketers Berate Krunal Pandya's Sendoff To Kieron Pollard; Say "Reaction Was Over The Top"

Former cricketers Parthiv Patel and RP Singh were disappointed with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) all-rounder, Krunal Pandya’s sendoff to former teammate, Kieron Pollard, during their game on Sunday.

Krunal had Pollard caught in the deep following which the Baroda all-rounder jumped on his friend and planted a kiss on his head. Although they are friends off the field, the reaction was termed as ‘too much’.

“Krunal and Pollard are very good friends, but things are different on the field. Pollard has not been scoring runs. Also, Mumbai have also been on a losing spree.

“It’s important to give people space at that point. In the dressing room, you can have as much banter as you want for the whole year. But, I feel this reaction was over the top,” Parthiv stated.

Pollard didn’t react to Krunal’s antics at the moment but the Caribbean all-rounder will be hurting after failing to get his team over the line once again.

Adding to Parthiv’s point, RP Singh asserted that Pollard was clearly having a tough time with the dismissal. If he had let go of his emotions, things could have turned ugly but Pollard kept his composure.

“Nobody likes losing. When a player is not doing well, one should avoid such things. You don’t know what emotions he is going through. What if he (Pollard) had turned back and reacted. He was walking back disappointed at being unable to win matches and that reaction (from Krunal) was definitely too much,” Singh opined.

LSG defeated MI by 36 runs courtesy of an excellent bowling effort and KL Rahul‘s second century of the season. They are now in 4th place with a healthy net run rate.
