IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Players Rajasthan Royals (RR) Can Target. Rajasthan Royals had a memorable campaign during the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League 2022. They meant business from the very first game and finished second at the end of the group stage with nine wins in 14 games.

Sanju Samson & co. conquered Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second qualifier to reach the Final but failed to recreate history as they lost the summit clash to Gujarat Titans.

Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal led Rajasthan’s charge in the IPL 2022 season and were the winners of the Orange Cap and Purple Cap respectively. The think tank had done a pretty good job at the mega auction 2022 to assemble a quality squad and it clearly paid dividends.

Rajasthan Royals were the first-ever champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) way back in 2008, but after winning the inaugural season of the league, they lost their way for a long time and struggled to even make it to the playoffs consistently in the last decade.

However, during the last IPL 2022, after assembling a new team in the mega auction, Rajasthan Royals showed the old spark again under the captaincy of Sanju Samson and they made it to the final of the tournament before losing against the Gujarat Titans.

Ahead of the next IPL 2023 mini-auction, which will be held in mid-December, Rajasthan Royals might retain most of their players from the last year’s squad. Rajasthan Royals might release the likes of Rassie Van Der Dussen, Daryl Mitchell, Navdeep Saini, Karun Nair, and Obed McCoy.

Chennai Super Kings are expected to let go of a number of players after the franchise finished 9th in the 10-team tournament in IPL 2022. Several talented youngsters will be brought up at the auction table and CSK would want to buy some to strengthen their squad as they’d want to push for one more title in what is most likely to be MS Dhoni’s last IPL season.

The likes of Chris Jordan, Adam Milne, Narayan Jagadeesan, Bhagath Verma, C Hari Nishanth, Prashant Solanki, KM Asif, Tushar Deshpande, Subhranshu Senapati, and Matheesha Pathirana may be released by Chennai Super Kings.

Ravindra Jadeja and his rumored rift with Chennai Super Kings had earlier raised eyebrows on the all-rounder’s inclusion in the team for IPL 2023. However, according to reports, CSK has refused to trade Ravindra Jadeja with a couple of teams.

The star all-rounder played with the franchise for many years and was retained for Rs 16 crore in the 15th edition of IPL 2022. From being criticized for his captaincy and poor performance with the bat to stepping down as the skipper, Ravindra Jadeja was in the news for the wrong reasons in IPL 2022. Reports tell that MS Dhoni has made it very clear to the CSK management that they cannot lose Ravindra Jadeja at any cost.

Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar had re-joined Chennai Super Kings for a mega sum of Rs 14 crores in IPL 2022 mega auctions. He emerged as the 2nd costliest pick of the IPL 2022 mega auction and drew bids from as many as 4 franchises.  Apart from CSK, Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Delhi Capitals (DC) were keen to get his services.

Chennai Super Kings pace bowler Deepak Chahar was however ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 owing to a back injury. The Agra-born medium pacer, Deepak Chahar was a part of the Rajasthan Royals squad in 2012 and donned the Rising Pune Supergiants-RPS jersey for two seasons. He picked 22 scalps in IPL 2019, 12 scalps in IPL 2020, and 14 scalps in IPL 2021. He may be bought on board by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023 if CSK releases him.

Devon Conway

Devon Conway had an excellent ICC T20 World Cup 2022, where he amassed 145 runs in 5 T20Is averaging 36.25 with a highest of 92* against Australia. The left-hander averages nearly 50 in T20Is, 40 in ODIs, and 51 in Tests.

The classy and stylish top-order batter, Devon Conway was bought by CSK for his base price of INR 1 crore at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Born in South Africa, Devon Conway plays for New Zealand and is known for switching gears while batting and can also keep wickets if required.

Rajasthan Royals may target him in the IPL 2023 auctions if they want to add an opener alongside the likes of Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Devdutt Padikkal. He will be on RR’s radar in IPL 2023 as the franchise will target him as he may also be a backup-keeping option for skipper Sanju Samson.

Moeen Ali

A stylish batter and one of the sweetest timers of the ball, Moeen Ali was retained by CSK for INR 8 crore ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The English all-rounder played 15 matches in IPL 2021 with 357 runs and 6 wickets to his name.

A versatile left-handed batter and an aggressive off-break bowler, Moeen Ali was bought by Chennai Super Kings for INR 7 crores at the IPL 2021 Player Auction. The left-hander represented RCB for two seasons before he was released by the franchise ahead of the 2021 edition of the league.

Moeen Ali has scored 910 runs in 44 IPL games averaging 23.33 and has also taken 24 scalps averaging 26.13. He may be targeted by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023 auctions if CSK decides to part ways with the all-rounder. He would then join the likes of spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal in the IPL 2023 Rajasthan squad. RR may also target him in IPL 2023 as they don’t have an overseas spin all-rounder.
