Rajasthan Royals head coach Kumar Sangakkara provided a fitness update about Sandeep Sharma and Nandre Burger after their injuries in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He stated that both the pacers are nearing full fitness and will be back soon.

Rajasthan Royals since the past few weeks have been without the services of their key players in Sandeep Sharma and Nandre Burger. The duo were exceptional for the team with the ball and were one of the main reasons behind the dominance of the franchise in the league.

Sandeep Sharma played just two games in the IPL 2024 before he got injured. The fast bowler faced side strain and missed the next 4 games on the trot for the team. The fast bowler's absence has been quite evident because Rajasthan Royals has struggled to stop runs in the death, which the fast bowler has been tremendous with.

On the other hand, Nandre Burger suffered an injury during the game against Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. The South African pacer since then has missed games for the team and there was no confirmation related to his availability for the team in the league.

However, Rajasthan Royals head coach Kumar Sangakkara gave an update about both the fast bowlers. He stated that Sandeep Sharma has recovered well and is about to make a comeback for the team in the tournament. Speaking to broadcasters, he explained:

"Sandeep has recovered quite well, he had a bit of a side strain but he's recovered well. He is just about to come back."

On Nandre Burger, Kumar Sangakkara stated that the fast bowler had a small leg issue but was fully fit. He stated that had they batted first in the ongoing game against Kolkata Knight Riders, the pacer would've played. He elaborated:

"Nandre had a small leg issue as well, he too has recovered well and we are looking forward to having them back in the side. If we would have batted first, Nadre would have featured in the second innings."

Whatever happens (being considered for T20 World Cup) will happen after that - Kumar Sangakkara on Riyan Parag

Riyan Parag has been sensational with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2024 for Rajasthan Royals. The batter has slammed over 300 runs and Kumar Sangakkara believes that the batter needs to be patient and focus on the current season and shouldn't think about the World Cup. He had said:

“I think his (Parag’s) potential is there for everyone to see. I think for Riyan it’s really about concentrating on Rajasthan and this season, and whatever happens (being considered for the T20 World Cup) will happen after that.

“I think you should never get too ahead of looking at things to find the future. As long as he keeps his head down, he is working hard, he is batting well, he is very organised, he’s worked hard in the off-season, he just needs to keep doing those good things and, if he does all that, good things will happen,” he concluded.
