India’s batting stalwart Virat Kohli was at his best last night not just in terms of his form but also in terms of his humor and humbleness to the opposition cricketers. Virat Kohli’s fun side was on display twice last night at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium where the Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings by 4 wickets to register their first victory of the season.

During the 2nd innings, Virat Kohli was caught on the mic stump, asking Punjab captain Shikhar Dhawan why is he getting so sentimental. Looking at Dhawan near covers, Kohli said “senti kyu ho raha, kya ho gya?”. That particular video is now going viral all over social media platforms and fans are, as always, loving the way he keeps joking around.

After asking Dhawan about the reason for his sentiment, Virat Kohli was also heard asking youngster Harpreet Brar to slow down a bit and let the batters breathe as the spinner was bowling recklessly. Just as Virat Kohli said “Wait man, let us breathe a bit”, Glenn Maxwell, who was on strike at that time, was bowled in the very next ball. So Brar having a breather was actually beneficial for him and that proved why you must listen to your seniors.

Brar, who bowls slow left-arm finger spin, was the most economical bowler of the night from both teams and his performance was applauded by everyone who was sitting there in the commentary box.

Not only did he earn two crucial breakthroughs of number 4 and 5 batters Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell for 18 and 4, but the most important and impressive thing was his economy rate. Harpreet Brar leaked just 13 runs last night from his quota of 4 overs and finished the game with an economy rate of 3.25.

Brar’s bowling had almost everything that a modern-day off-spinner would want to have in their game. The ball might not have turned at all, but Brar was consistent with his line length, varied his pace, and was also spot-on with the Arm ball. His performance yesterday impressed Kevin Pietersen so much, that the Englishman even asked the Indian selection committee to keep an eye on the 28-year-old.

Although Harpreet Brar’s economical bowling eventually went in vain as RCB picked up the win through Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror’s blistering knocks, but the Punjab Kings star will be happy with his own performance.
