Only 200 runs were scored in 39.5 overs at Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, and the team chasing a mere 100 runs laboured their way to victory.

This has sparked considerable discussion. Who would have imagined that the Indian squad, who just had a 100-run target in front of them, would have to endure a scare because not a single batter, not even Suryakumar Yadav, could find the perfect timing.

Lucknow T20I Made History As Longest T20I Without A Single Six Being Hit

The fact that not a single six was struck in over 40 overs, setting an unfavourable record, sums up how difficult the pitch was to bat on. The longest T20I (in terms of the number of balls) without a single six lasted 39.5 overs (239 balls). The Lucknow T20I also made history by becoming the first men’s T20I game played in India without a single six being struck.

Hardik Pandya, the captain, too criticized the Lucknow pitch’s condition, saying that it was turning square and essentially a graveyard for batsmen.

“To be honest, this was a shocker of a wicket. Two games the kind of wickets we have played on. I don’t mind difficult wickets. I am all up for that, but these two wickets are not made for T20. Somewhere down the line the curators or the stadium whichever we are going to play in T20, they should make sure they prepare the pitches earlier, rather than having a couple of games there,” he said.

The fact that they came out on top and tied the series 1-1 will give the Men in Blue a sigh of relief. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the series finale.
