Shikhar Dhawan the dashing left-handed batter has made it clear that he wants to be a part of the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup Setup. The batter would be keenly observed by the selection panel in the ODI Series against South Africa.  If he can smash a couple of match-winning knocks for the team then he could make a case for himself.

It won’t be wrong to say that Dhawan doesn’t have age on his side. The batter has shown that he can be trusted in ICC tournaments as he has a pretty good record in that. There is only one year left for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 where every ODI counts.

Sanjay Bangar on Shikhar Dhawan

Sanjay Bangar was having an interaction with Star Sports and was asked about Shikhar Dhawan. “A couple of things, obviously he hasn’t got the accolades that he deserves as an ODI cricketer. If you think of great left-handers who have played for the country, you think of Sourav Ganguly at the top, Gautam Gambhir and who next? The kind of consistency that he has in this format is absolutely phenomenal.” said Bangar.

“He is somebody who is a very happy-go-lucky guy. He doesn’t really regret a lot of things that have happened in the past. That’s his mindset, that’s his outlook towards life. He values what he has in his hands. He has got ODI cricket in his hands.” he added.

Crucial Series for South Africa

Unlikely South Africa is facing a tough time in the ICC World Super League Points. The team is ranked at 11th position with 49 points from 13 matches. They need to pull their socks and make sure that they are winning the series and get some crucial points.

Skipper Temba Bavuma will have to lead from the front as not getting a direct qualification would damage their reputation. South Africa needs to take one game at a time and focus on the basics. South Africa has an uphill task on its hands but we have seen how Proteas have risen from tough times.
