India vs South Africa Weather Forecast And Pitch Report Of Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, India, 3rd ODI India is headed to Delhi on 11th October 2022 to take on South Africa at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Feroz Shah Kotla Ground for the third ODI. It will be a winner-takes-it contest as India takes on South Africa in the 3rd and the final ODI of the three-match series.

Indians made a strong comeback in the 2nd game, winning it by 7 wickets to level the series after losing in the 1st game. The South Africans would look to bounce back after their lacklustre show in the second game, where they failed to apply pressure on the Indian batsmen.

Indians have now gained confidence, and their batsmen look in good form. These players are used to playing in these conditions, adding to the side’s advantage. It will be an uphill challenge for the South Africans as the wicket in Delhi offers a sharp turn.

It would be a high-stakes battle, and one is likely to see the two sides perform their best. The weather in Delhi has not been good in the last couple of days. It has been raining quite regularly with the city has witnessed the highest rainfall since 2007.

Shikhar Dhawan would be happy with the kind of comeback his side made in the last game. They batted well and chased down a big score clinically. The bowling attack also restricted the South Africans to a relatively small score on a good batting surface, a confidence booster. Shikhar Dhawan shall aim for a similar show and bag the series 2-1.

Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill need to fire at the top, as they have looked rusty in both games the side has played. Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer played extremely well, and the latter shall feel confident after his hundred in the last match. Sanju Samson, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, and Shahbaz Ahmed make it a formidable batting order.

Mohammad Siraj and Washington Sundar shall aim to strike early in this game as the South Africans are likely to struggle on this slow surface. Shardul Thakur must make good use of his variations on this track. Avesh Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, and Shahbaz Ahmed add to the side’s bowling options, and they would look to use their skills.

An all-round display from India saw them ease to a seven-wicket win over South Africa in the 2nd ODI. Chasing 279, India lost their openers – Shikhar Dhawan (13) and Shubman Gill (28) early inside nine overs but then the pair of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan rebuild the innings with a huge 161-run partnership for the third wicket.

Ishan Kishan looked set for a maiden century but he missed it by seven runs, holing out on 93 off 84. However, Shreyas Iyer batted through and recorded a second ODI century and was unbeaten on 113. Sanju Samson made 30 off 36 as India finished with 282/3 in 45.5 Overs. India are expected to play with the same side that played the decider although the player of the 2nd ODI match Shreyas Iyer could be in doubt for the series decider in Delhi on Tuesday after cramping during the game.

India Predicted Playing XI:

Shikhar Dhawan (c), Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson (wk), Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Avesh Khan

Temba Bavuma will likely make a comeback to the side after being rested in the last game. He needs to inspire confidence in the side that suffered a big loss. It will be a big test for the South African batsmen as the wicket would be tough to score runs on. Temba Bavuma shall look for an energetic show from his players in this game.

Openers Janneman Malan and Quinton de Kock have done well, and the side needs a solid start from them. Reeza Hendricks played a good knock for the side, and he will need to do well along with Temba Bavuma and Heinrich Klaasen in the middle order. David Miller adds firepower down the order and must do well alongside Wayne Parnell.

Wayne Parnell and Bjorn Fortuin must bowl good spells with the new ball, as the wicket isn’t likely to offer them much assistance. Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje are experienced bowlers and have important roles in this game. The side would also expect good spells from Keshav Maharaj, who will enjoy the conditions.

South Africa’s decision to bat first backfired in the 2nd ODI. They also lost openers early but Aiden Markram and Reeza Hendricks revived their innings with a century stand. Aiden Markram made 79 while Reeza Hendricks scored 74.

Temba Bavuma is expected to slot back in the side in place of Janneman Malan if he is fit. Lungi Ngidi might take his place back ahead of Anrich Nortje who has been in terrible rhythm. Tabraiz Shamsi will come back into the side in place of Bjorn Fortuin.

India vs South Africa Weather Forecast And Pitch Report Of Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, India, 3rd ODI

The skies will be slightly overcast over Delhi on October 11, Tuesday and one expects the surface to be challenging for the batsmen due to the weather conditions. Batsmen shall need to build their innings to do well at this venue. The side batting first shall need 300 runs on the board to win here.

Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, is a good venue for ODI cricket as it balances between the batsmen and the bowlers. One has seen high-scoring games here in the past, but bowlers have also had their chances. The wicket suits spinners, but batsmen who spend time at the crease have done well at this venue.

The wicket at this venue is best to bat on at the start of the game. It tends to get slower as the game progresses and scoring runs against the spinners is always a challenge at this venue. The side winning the toss in this game is most likely to bat first.

Given that the sides may just choose to chase here, this will be a nice track to bat on and there may also be a little dew element. The outfield is also rather rapid, and the boundaries are not particularly huge. The pitch used to help the spinners here, but during the past few years, it has changed considerably.

The forecast for New Delhi indicates a temperature of 21-27 degrees with a 21-42% probability of thunderstorms and a potential cloud cover of 38%. Despite the fact that it has been raining from time to time in New Delhi for the past few days, the game is not expected to be at risk. The weather might simply improve. Humidity will be 86-91% according to weather.com and wind will be from North North East at 7-8 km/hr. Widespread areas of smoke and haze are expected, reducing visibility at times.
