Indian skipper Rohit Sharma paid tribute to Shane Warne, who passed away on Friday due to a suspected heart attack. Rohit Sharma said that it’s a huge loss to the cricketing world. Sharma also paid condolences to Shane Warne’s family and friends.

The news of  Warne’s death shocked the whole cricket fraternity. Warne was on a vacation in Thailand where he suffered a suspected heart attack. His friends tried their best efforts to save the spin legend but could not save him. He was just 52 years old.

Huge Loss To Cricketing World: Rohit Sharma Pays Tribute To Shane Warne

Speaking ahead of Day 2 of India vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test, Rohit Sharma paid tributes to Warne. He said that he was devasted to hear the news of Warne’s demise.

“Yeah absolutely devasted to hear the news of Shane Warne passing away. It’s a huge huge loss to our cricketing world and we do understand his contribution to this cricketing world. He inspired the whole new generation of cricketers and he did wonders with the ball. We all know about that”, Rohit Sharma said.

Sharma also paid condolences to Warne’s family and friends.

“So it’s a huge huge loss. It was extremely sad to hear but again I just want to give condolences to his family, his three children, and friends and the loved ones”, the Indian skipper further said.

Shane Warne is one of the legends in spin bowling. The former Australian leg spinner represented the national side from 1992 to 2007. In 145 Tests, he scalped 708 wickets at an average of 25.41. In 194 ODIs, Warne scalped 293 wickets at an average of 25.73.

Warne also played a big role during Australia’s victory in ODI World Cup 1999. He was also the first captain to win IPL title, as he led Rajasthan Royals to title victory in the debut season of IPL 2008. With 1001 international wickets, Warne is the 2nd highest wicket-taker in international cricket after Muttiah Muralitharan (1347).
