Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel has said that the approach of senior Indian batsman Virat Kohli was good in the pink-ball Test match against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team.

Kohli scored 23 runs off 48 balls, including 2 fours in the pink-ball Test against Sri Lanka before getting dismissed in the 28th over, which was bowled by Dhananjaya de Silva.

Virat Kohli’s Tough Run Continues, Gets An Unplayable Delivery In Bengaluru Test

During a discussion on Cricbuzz, Parthiv Patel said that the star batter Kohli can’t be blamed for his dismissal because the pitch was bad and he could have done nothing on the delivery he got dismissed. He elaborated:

Can’t blame Virat Kohli for the way he got out. The pitch is so bad that he could have done nothing about it. The ball was spinning and kept a bit low. I think his approach was very good today, the way he was leaving deliveries and was playing on the front foot and was pouncing on the bad deliveries.”

“You can’t do much about such a delivery. You can only go into the dressing room and say to yourself that it was just not your day and you were unlucky.”

The way the LBW shout happened, he got a bit baffled by it and ran to steal the single – Parthiv Patel on Mayank Agarwal

Skipper Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal opened the innings for the Indian team in the second Test against Sri Lanka and they were unable to provide a good start to the team as Mayank was dismissed on the 3rd ball of the 2nd over itself after scoring just 4 runs off 7 balls. Mayank after an LBW appeal by Sri Lanka tried to steal a quick single but Rohit Sharma was not interested and in the process Mayank got run-out.

While talking about Mayank, former Indian wicket-keeper Parthiv said that the opening batsman will be disappointed after his performance. He asserted:

Mayank Agarwal will be disappointed with his dismissal, as we had said in the last show, that he needs some runs. The way the LBW shout happened, he got a bit baffled by it and ran to steal the single. On such wickets, you try to score big because in the second innings it is only going to get more difficult for batting.”
