Rishabh Pant has been named the next superstar of Test cricket by Aakash Chopra. He emphasized that the aggressive wicketkeeper-batter has the necessary qualities for the format.

In the present second Match against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru, Pant slammed 50 runs off just 31 deliveries. In the process, he surpassed the Indian record for the fastest half-century (30 balls) in Test cricket, which has been held by the great Kapil Dev.

Pant received a lot of appreciation from Aakash Chopra, who said:

“I’m choosing to go with Rishabh Pant as my Player of the Day. I’m referring to him because he’s the next Test cricket superstar. Rishabh Pant is the ideal ambassador for Test cricket, bringing excitement, expectation, and entertainment, and he brings all of these things together.”

Pant was not the first player to shatter one of Kapil Dev’s records, according to the cricket player. In the most recent match, Ravichandran Ashwin surpassed the famous pacer’s 434 wickets to become India’s second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. Chopra added, ”

“When he batted, he broke India’s record, and Kapil Paaji may be wondering why the kids are just interested in his records. In the previous match, Ravichandran Ashwin took the lead, and Sir had the 30-ball record for the quickest fifty by an Indian in Test cricket, which he broke in 28 balls.”

Despite the bulk of fielders monitoring the boundary line, Pant’s cricket was not hindered, according to Aakash Chopra. He elaborated:

“He’s a unique individual. Even if fielders are kept in the deep, he hits a lot of fours and sixes. The concept is clear: fielders cannot be kept among the audience. He has software that turns onlookers into fielders.”
“He batted extremely well, got out in the end, but he is that fascinating talent who is propelling Test cricket forward because there is no limit to the fours and sixes as long as he is at the crease.”

In the pink-ball Test, India held Sri Lanka to a score of 28/1. On Sunday, Bumrah excelled with the bat, while Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant both hit half-centuries that set new records.
