Sri Lanka left-arm pacer Vishwa Fernando was cleaned up for a duck in the first match of the two-match Test series against the India National Cricket Team at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh, on Sunday, March 6.

Indian left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was in sensational form and he dominated while batting and while bowling in the Mohali Test against the Sri Lankan team.

He dismissed Fernando for a duck in the 5th ball of the 65th over on Day 3. Jadeja bowled a fuller length delivery on the middle and leg and Fernando opened up to defend but he did not cover for the spin and the ball got an outside edge that went straight into skipper Rohit’s hand at gully. Fernando became Jadeja’s 4th wicket of the innings. Jadeja also dismissed Lahiru Kumara in the last ball of the same over to bag a 5-wicket haul.

Sri Lanka Bundled Out For 174/10

Sri Lanka National Cricket Team in their first innings of the Mohali Test looked extremely poor. The senior Sri Lanka batters struggled against the Indian spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin and the pace duo of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.

Captain Dimuth Karunaratne contributed only 28 runs off 71 balls and Lahiru Thirimanne scored 17 runs off 60, the former was dismissed by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and the Thirimanne became Ravichandran Ashwin’s first wicket of the innings. Angelo Mathews (22) and Dhananjaya de Silva (1) also failed to score big runs.

The top run-getter for the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team was Pathum Nissanka who battled against the Indian bowling unit and scored an unbeaten 61 runs off 133 balls including 11 boundaries.
