India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had an epic Test match as he helped his side crush Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs in the first Test of the two-match series in Mohali and captain Rohit Sharma lauded him saying that he is at the top of his game and bettering himself every game.

Ravindra Jadeja was tha toast of India’s massive win at the Inderjit Singh Bindra Punjab Cricket Association Cricket Stadium in Mohali as he picked up 9 wickets including a fifer in the first innings and made his career-best Test score of 175* from the number seven spot, helping India to a mammoth 574/8d in their only innings.

India batted first after Rohit Sharma, in his first Test as India captain, won the toss. While the top order did decently, Hanuma Vihari (58), Rishabh Pant (96), and Ravichandran Ashwin (61), all played brilliantly as Ravindra Jadeja took center stage and slammed the Sri Lankan bowlers to all parts of the PCA stadium.

India captain Rohit Sharma said Ravindra Jadeja is upping his game every time after star all-rounder helped India to gain a 1-0 lead against Sri Lanka in the Test series here in Mohali.

“He’s one of the top. Look at the performances: to get 175 not out and then take nine wickets in the game; he’s just upping his game every time you see him. In the past when we played in India, his contribution with the bat lower down the order and taking those crucial wickets, he just seems to be adding a lot more to his game every time he plays.

He’s very hungry… as you can see that hunger drives athletes to move forward and I see that in Jadeja clearly. He’s quite hungry for success, quite hungry to get runs and do well for the team,” said Rohit Sharma in the virtual post-match press conference on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka managed just 174 and 178 in their two innings after being asked to follow on and lost the match inside three days.
