Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has the chance to become the third-fastest Indian to take 250 wickets in a Test match when he takes part in the second Test between India and Sri Lanka in Bengaluru starting on March 12.

Jadeja has played 58 Tests so far and has picked up 241 wickets. If he can get the remaining nine in the next game, he will be the third-quickest after Ravichandran Ashwin and Anil Kumble.

He took nine wickets in the previous match and scored 175* in a lop-sided encounter in Mohali. If Jadeja can keep his form up, the Indian team can comfortably secure another home series win and add crucial WTC points to their tally.

“Ravindra Jadeja’s name should be in the A+ category list” – Aakash Chopra

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra opined that Jadeja deserves to be in the A+ category in the central contracts akin to Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah. Jadeja has been one of India’s best performers across formats in the last few years and he certainly deserves a bump, as per Chopra.

The category where there was no change is the A+ category, where Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah are there. But why not Jadeja? I think Jadeja’s name should be there in that list. In the next central contract list, I believe Jadeja’s name will be there in that category because he has performed so brilliantly.

Currently, Jadeja is in Grade A. In the next list, I think both Jadeja and KL Rahul will be in the A+ category. Rishabh Pant is going to be a massive contender. He is the vice-captain of the team. All of them should be pushed to the A+ category,” Chopra further added.

On the back of Jadeja’s knock, India piled up 574/8 in the first innings before bundling out their hapless opponents for 174 and 178 to record an innings and 222 run-victory.
