IND vs SL: He Offers A Lot With The Bat, Bowl And The Field – Jasprit Bumrah Hails Axar Patel

Star Indian pacer and vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah lavished praise on spin-bowling all-rounder Axar Patel and said that the left-arm spinner offers a lot with the bat, bowl and the field.

Axar Patel was recovering from a shin injury he had missed the South Africa tour and the home series against West Indies. He returned to the squad by replacing Kuldeep in the team for the second Test against Sri Lanka, which will be a pink-ball Test.

Meanwhile, during a pre-match press conference, Bumrah said that Axar is an automatic pick whenever he is fit to play.

“Axar has added a lot of value to the team, he offers a lot with the bat, bowl and the field and whenever he is fit, he jumps straight back in the team,” Bumrah told reporters during the pre-match presser on Friday.

The premier pacer said that the team management will take a call on the playing XI combination after the practice session on Friday. He added that the players will have to make a few mental adjustments ahead of the pink-ball Test match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Saturday, as they are playing the pink-ball Test after a long time.

“We will take a call on the combination (going in with thee spinners or three seamers) today after the practice session,” he said.

“We are playing Pink Ball Test after a long time. There will be a few mental adjustments that we have to make. It is not natural to catch with the pink ball for us.

“It is a challenge that we face. We are still new to this format, so we are taking feedback from our previous game and practising them and trying and replicate them in the match,” added the 28-year-old.
