IND vs SL: “Suryakumar Yadav Is Batting At A Different Level; Happy That I'm In The Same Team As Him” – Yuzvendra Chahal

The 32-year-old India National Cricket Team leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has showered praise on the in-form middle-order batter, Suryakumar Yadav, saying that he is batting at a different level.

Suryakumar Yadav showcased an unbelievable batting brilliance in the series decider 3rd T20I against the Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lanka National Cricket Team at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Saturday, January 7.

The 32-year-old’s heroics combined with the clinical performance of the bowlers helped India to bundle out Sri Lanka for 137 and win the match by 91 runs to seal the series 2-1.

Suryakumar Yadav, the No.1 ranked batter in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, slammed an unbeaten 112 runs off 51 balls, including 7 fours and 9 sixes, to become the fastest ever to score 3 T20I centuries as it took him just 43 innings and he also breached the 1500 T20I runs mark in just 843 balls to become the fastest to achieve the milestone.

Speaking after India’s 91-run triumph in the Rajkot T20I, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal said that after getting smashed for 26 in 2 overs in the first T20I, he discussed with the coaches what pace and lines to bowl. He also praised India’s Mr.360 and said that he is happy to share the dressing room with a player of Suryakumar’s calibre.

“After the first match, I had a discussion with the coaches – on what pace and line to be bowling.”

“(On Suryakumar Yadav) He’s batting at a different level and I’m happy that I’m in the same team as him.”

Notably, Suryakumar is one of five batters to score three or more T20I centuries. Rohit Sharma leads the list with four centuries, followed by Suryakumar, Glenn Maxwell (3), Colin Munro (3) and Sabawoon Davizi (3).

Axar Patel is a perfect package – Yuzvendra Chahal

Chahal also heaped praise on the 28-year-old all-rounder Axar Patel for his terrific all-round show in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The leggie labelled Axar as a “perfect package”. He said:

“Axar is a perfect package. It’s tough to bowl to him as well as he’s a clean hitter.“

Axar won the Player of the Series award for performing brilliantly in all three games against the Dasun Shanaka-led side. He registered scores of 31*, 65 and 21* in three games. With the ball, he registered figures of 0/31, 2/24 and 1/19 in the series.
